The Lightning Ridge Pro Am is in August.
18 Holes, Par 67 men, Par 70 ladies, 5637 metres. Sand greens.

Lightning Ridge Golf Club was formed in 1972, at first with 4 holes. The Golf Course boundary is parallel to one of the last straight race courses in the country, and is about 300 metres NE of the CBD.

The women’s Section of the Club was formed in 1973. The clubhouse then was a huge log but in time progressed to a bower shelter with a floor area of approximately 12 sq. metres. A brick clubhouse was begun in 1991. Irrigation of the course also began in 1991 and by 1992 there were 12 holes. Two more were added in 1993 and the final 4 holes in 1995. On May 7th, 1995 the full 18 hole course was proudly opened.

Golf is available 7 days a week with Ladies day on Wednesdays, Mixed on Saturdays and Men’s Day on Sundays. Friday is a social occasion that nobody takes very seriously and is a great start to the weekend.

Major events: Ladies Open Tournament and Holden Scramble in May, Men’s Open Tournament in June and many Sponsored Days and a full programme of club events.

The Lightning Ridge Pro-Am is held each year around August. The Daily Telegraph in summarising the PGA Tour listed Lightning Ridge Pro-Am as "THE MOST BIZARRE EVENT ON THE PGA TOUR". The club are very proud to wear that title and certainly will continue to look forward to the annual event.
