Finding Whyalla Golf Club is easy as it is just two kilometres from the Whyalla City Plaza, opposite the Whyalla Visitor Centre and Maritime Museum, on Alternate Highway 1 (Port Augusta Road). Home to Whyalla golf members, the golf club also welcomes casual golfers and visitors. The course offers a challenging 18 holes with fully grassed and well irrigated fairways and greens. There are beautiful views, many native birds, and sometimes kangaroos. The Golf Shop has clubs, golf carts and electric buggies for hire, and has refreshments.
In 2004, Whyalla Golf Club Inc. joined Whyalla City Council as a partner organization in a water recycling project for Whyalla, and became the largest single user of locally recycled water. Within the semi-arid landscape of Whyalla and the upper Spencer Gulf, the Whyalla Golf Course and Bowling Greens are fine examples of environmental sustainability that bring value to the community and great pleasure to their golfers and bowlers!
