Bay Hill Day 1 - Stenson Leads, Woods 71 ft Birdie Putt

Round One at Bay Hill - Arnold Palmer Invitational 2018 March 15-18 Orlando, Florida

Tiger Woods has ended his first round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational with 4-under-par 68. He is presently in a six way tie in 7th place. Patrick Reed, who tied second with Woods at Valspar, is also in this tie at 7th.

Sweden's Henrik Stenson has taken the lead with 8-under 64. Stenson won the 2016 Open Championship at Troon with a record breaking score of 264. A PGA official has announced that Stenson's score in this round is his own personal record breaker, being the best score of his entire golfing career. His round included nine birdies and just one bogey on the par-3 14th. Over 18 holes there were 20 official putts. When told of this he replied with dry humour:

“Yeah, yeah I can see that. There have been times I’ve had 20 in nine holes. I know that much.”

Aaron Wise and Talor Gooch are tied on second with 7-under 65 while Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker and Bryson DeChambeau follow with 5-under 67.

Ernie Els, Tommy Fleetwood, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose are part of an even larger group, all on 3-under 69.

Many among the crowding fans were there to see for themselves the golf legend that is Tiger Woods. He did not disappoint them, hitting a chimerical 71 foot birdie putt at the seventh hole and temporarily taking the lead. (See video above.)
