AT&T Byron Nelson 17th - 20th May 2018. 50th Anniversary.
The 2018 AT&T Byron Nelson, on the PGA Tour, is held at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas. The tournament runs from 17th - 20th May and 156 players are in the field. Last year ended in a playoff between Billy Horschel and Jason Day, with Horschel winning by par on the first extra hole.
2018 is the first year that the 50 year old Byron Nelson golf tournament has been played at Trinity Forest Golf Club. Trinity Forest Golf Course is set within the Great Trinity Forest, a 6,000 acre forest project on the outskirts of Dallas. It is modelled on the older links-style courses of the UK and the NE US, and is edged by giant hardwood trees. The course was created primarily to attract championship golf events to Dallas.
The links-style design of the course will present different kinds of challenges from those of most recent tournaments.
Geoff Ogilvy commented, "Trinity Forest is going to make us use our brains a little bit... One side of the fairway is easy, the other side is going to be difficult... Your mistakes are magnified, but your good stuff is magnified as well... Sometimes here at Trinity, the pin isn't necessarily the target."
One feature of the course is the massive double green at the par-4 third hole, which is shared by the par-4 11th. The green is almost the size of a football field and several bunkers could come into play.
