Patty Tavatanakit will sleep on the lead for the second consecutive night. After opening with a 66 on Thursday, the 21-year-old backed up that round with another under-par performance on Friday. She posted 69 in the afternoon wave and holds a one-stroke lead over Shanshan Feng.

Thailand's Patty Tavatanakit maintained her one-shot lead at the LPGA's ANA Inspiration ahead of Chinese veteran Feng Shanshan Friday, with a host of big names within striking distance.

Patty, a 21-year-old in her second season on the LPGA tour after a rookie campaign disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, had a hole-out for eagle, three birdies and two bogeys in her three-under 69.

Her nine-under par total of 135 at Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage, California, put her where she started the day -- with a one-shot lead in pursuit of a first major title.  Read more here

Patty Tavatanakit should not be considered an interloper atop the leader board at the ANA Inspiration, notwithstanding her relative obscurity. If she were a stock, analysts likely would be bullish on her.

For the second straight day at the ANA Inspiration, the 21-year-old from Thailand finished with the lead, this time after shooting a three-under-par 69 on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course on Friday. Through 36 holes, she is with a nine-under-par 135 score, one stroke ahead of Shanshan Feng.
