Day 2: Sam Burns 62 round, leads over Noren by two

Now that Sam Burns has figured out how to turn an early lead into a victory, it's already time to try again.

Burns birdied six of his last eight holes Friday for a 10-under 62 and a two-stroke lead over Alex Noren at 17 under after the second round of the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Noren shot 64 to get to 15 under, and K.H. Lee had his second 65 to reach 14 under. Doc Redman bogeyed two of his last three holes for a 67 that left him 13 under.  Read more

It took nearly four years for Sam Burns to break through and win on the PGA Tour. He’s hoping the sequel will come in much shorter order.

Burns was simply scintillating on a warm, sunny day, bludgeoning TPC Craig Ranch on Friday during the second round of the AT&T Byron Nelson. By day’s end, the 24-year-old rode a 62 to take the lead into the third round.  Read more

Valspar Championship winner Sam Burns fires a 10-birdie 62 to earn the halfway lead at the AT&T Byron Nelson, Jordan Spieth slips six shots behind, while Lee Westwood plays himself back into form with a 64.

Burns, who broke into the world's top 50 with his win at the Valspar Championship earlier this month, birdied six of the last eight holes to card a 10-under 62 and hit the front on 17 under par after another day of low scoring at TPC Craig Ranch.  Read more
