The Players Series Sydney - Andrew Martin Champion

From Zac Rayson for Fox Sports:

Australian Andrew Martin has matched golfing world records in a staggering victory at the Players Series Sydney with a 10-under final round 61 that featured a ridiculous four eagles.

From eight shots behind the leaders on the final day, the Victorian 36-year-old launched three eagles in succession and four in seven holes – a record streak – as well as a birdie and bogey on the front nine of Bonnie Doon Golf Club.

He finished the tournament 18-under to seal victory (after earlier scores of 67, 69, and 69), the biggest win of his 15-year professional career.

Martin’s three-straight eagles from the seventh hole equals Finland’s Toni Hakula as the only men to do so at any PGA Tour-sanctioned event.

Hakula achieved it at the Abierto de Chile in 2019.

Martin’s four eagles in the round is also an equal world record (on major tours) shared by Gordon Brand Jnr (1986), Willie Wood (1990), Scott McCarron (1995), Mikko Ilonen (2003) and Haotong Li (2019).

And his 61 is thought to be the lowest final round to win in PGA Tour of Australasia history.  Read more here
