Brody Martin Leads into Final Round at Kalgoorlie

WA PGA Championship 2018 at Kalgoorlie - Brody Martin Leads into Final Round

Heading into the final round of the 2018 WA PGA Championship, Brody Martin is ahead by two strokes on 11-under par 205. Jarryd Felton and Simon Hawkes are tied second on 9-under 207. Two strokes back again in a three way tie are Neven Basic, Theo Coroneo and Peter Wilson on 7-under 209.

Each of Martin's three rounds so far have been in the 60s, and he is the only player to achieve that at this year's championship. The 23 year old West Australian badly needs to win this tournament if he is to play in any of the bigger events later in the season.

After talking to his coach on the drive to Kalgoorlie Martin said, “We had a goal to shoot 4-under every round.”

Felton too has a strong drive to win the championship. He has been in the final top ten when he competed here, each of the last four years. Felton led this round at the outset and all went well through the first nine holes. At the 10th he struck scrub rough.

"I had to take an unplayable and made six,” he said.  “It was a shock to the system and my head was a little scrambled."

However he steadied himself and kept moving forward. He then "made a few birdies on the last holes.”  With his even-par 72 third round he is only two strokes from the lead.

The final round is being live-screened from 10.00 am Sunday (local time) on PGA TV.
