Moonah Links PGA Classic 2021 - Bryden Macpherson

A brilliant win for Macpherson, and for GOLF in the time of pandemic.

At 8.00 pm on Wednesday 10th February 2021 @PGAofAustralia tweeted, "That's Round 2 of the #MoonahPGAClassic done and dusted".

By 9.31 pm that same evening, those at the PGA overseeing the Classic made the astute move of bringing the competition to early completion. Their update tweet:  "Due to the uncertainty around potential border restrictions, we'll be completing rounds 3 and 4 of the #MoonahPGAClassic tomorrow."

At around 7.15 am Thursday the first players teed off for Round 3. John Lyras was leading at that time.

At 1.42 pm @PGAofAustralia gave a condition report:  "The wind is getting up!

We’ve got wind speeds of approx 28km/h and NE gusts over 31km/h

And it’s only going to increase as the day goes on."

At 2.47 pm Round 4 was getting underway and Michael Hendry on 13-under and Bryden Macpherson on 10-under, started their rounds.

At 7.27 pm @PGAofAustralia tweeted, "Congratulations to our Moonah Links PGA Classic champion Bryden Macpherson".

And finally at 9.38 pm that evening, this tweet

"I holed a 30-footer on 15 and then holed a great 10-footer on 16, 30-footer down the hill at 17 and then hit two of the best golf shots I’ve hit all week on 18."   A spectacular final round from #MoonahPGAClassic champ Bryden Macpherson.

The following afternoon, Friday 12th February shortly after 3.00 pm, the Victorian Premier announced that the state would be re-entering Stage 4 Lockdown from midnight.

PGA Australia's awareness of the changing situation, and their immediate action in response to it, meant that the Moonah Links Classic was able to be completed before the onset of additional stressors from the impending lockdown.
