Canadian Open Cancelled Again due to Pandemic Restrictions

Canadian Golf Open Cancelled Again due to Pandemic Restrictions

As the worst of the pandemic begins to ease in parts of the world, lockdowns are being lifted and golf is again being played.  However in other areas the restrictions continue. The Canadian Open was due to be held at the St Georges G&CC in Toronto as part of the PGA TOUR. It was scheduled for 10-13 June, a week before the US Open.  It has now been cancelled for the second year running, due to limitations caused by pandemic conditions.

From Inside the Games:

The Canadian Open is now the first tournament on the 2021 PGA Tour calendar to be cancelled due to COVID-19, with the decision being made due to the border between Canada and the US still being closed.

Approximately 600 people would have had to enter Canada from another country to attend the tournament; while the tight calendar space means that self-isolation before the competition is not possible.  More here
