Day 3: Garrick Higgo leads, Maverick Antcliff rises

Garrick Higgo carded four closing birdies in a 64 to continue his remarkable run of form and take a two shot lead into the final round of the 2021 Canary Islands Championship.

The South African arrived for the Canary Islands Swing off the back of a top five in Austria and won the opening event at the Gran Canaria Lopesan Open.

A top ten at the Tenerife Open followed and on day three of the second week at Golf Costa Adeje he moved to 20 under, taking his total score in 11 rounds on the Canaries to an incredible 61 under par.

England's Richard Mansell was his closest challenger after a 64 of his own, one ahead of Scot Calum Hill who signed for a 66.  Read more

Australian Maverick Antcliff has given himself a shot at victory in the Canary Islands Championship going into the last round, having shot a second straight round of 64 in Tenerife.

Just as on Friday, the Queenslander enjoyed a flawless, bogey-free, seven-birdie round on Saturday to move to 15-under for the championship.

It put him in joint-fourth place, five shots behind the South African leader Garrick Higgo.  Read more
