Course

Hole 1

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 330 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 283 m

A deceptive opening hole. The accuracy of your tee shot is critical to not only attack the pin with a short iron for your second shot, but to miss the classic Alex Russell ‘Chain of Pearls’ bunkering on the right hand side of the fairway.

Hole 2

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 400 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 320 m

One of Yarra Yarra’s tougher par 4’s, a long tee shot is required to set up a second shot to an elevated green. The difficult second shot, played from a downslope, will require a decision on whether to attempt to carry the bunkers 40 metres short of the green or to lay-up. Bunkers are situated left and right of the green.

Hole 3

White

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 201 m

Red

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 175 m

Yarra Yarra’s longest par 3 provides a difficult starting hole that requires a long iron or wood to a narrow green. The green is well bunkered to the left and right. If the tee shot is offline a player can be left with a difficult chip or bunker shot.

Hole 4

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 361 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 299 m

A dogleg right which has a bunker positioned down the right side of the fairway. The tee shot requires a fairway wood or long iron hit down the left centre of the fairway. This opens up the shot to the green. It’s best the approach shot is short, as bunkers are found at the back of the green.

Hole 5

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 293 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 268 m

Long hitters may challenge the green, but for most it will be a fairway wood or long iron to avoid the fairway run out at 210 metres. A tricky approach shot awaits to a raised green with multiple tiers and swales to negotiate.

Hole 6

White

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 117 m

Red

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 100 m

A short hole featuring a long green. Club selection and accuracy are vital. Avoiding the deep bunkers is a must. Take care on the green as it has more slope than appears.

Hole 7

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 371 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 322 m

This long hole allows for a wide open tee shot. Long hitters will need to avoid the cluster of bunkers on the right side of the fairway. The ideal tee shot is down the right side of the fairway which sets up the best angle into the green, which slopes from left to back right. The left greenside bunker can cause problems with the pin on the left, while the back right bunker catches balls that feed naturally with the slope of green.

Hole 8

White

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 502 m

Red

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 448 m

Long hitters may choose to challenge the bunkers off the tee, but the safest strategy is to take the bunkers out of play by positioning the drive left of centre fairway. A good drive and fairway wood for the second shot sets up a short pitch into the green. The green is severely sloped from back to front, so an approach shot below the hole will leave the best chance of making a putt.

Hole 9

White

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 479 m

Red

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 422 m

Play the tee shot right centre of the fairway. The fairway bunkers situated left side will catch a drive offline. Allow an extra club for the uphill second shot, which must avoid bunkers on the left side. An accurate third shot is required to this tricky green, which features a false front and subtle slopes that make putting extremely difficult.

Hole 10

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 360 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 335 m

Tee shots should avoid the fairway bunker on the right 220 metres from the tee; a difficult task with the fairway feeding towards the bunker.  A downhill lie on the second shot makes the approach to the small, raised green difficult. There are not many easy up and downs around this green

Hole 11

White

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 168 m

Red

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 136 m

Yarra Yarra’s signature hole provides one of the toughest par 3’s you will encounter. A long iron approach to a narrow ‘Redan’ style green means nothing but a perfect shot will do. There are three tiers on the elevated green making putting difficult.

Hole 12

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 372 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 326 m

For this dogleg right hole a tee shot to the left is vital to avoid the series of bunkers guarding the right side of the fairway. Take an extra club for the uphill second shot to an elevated green which slopes from back to front, as any shot short will run back leaving a difficult chip. A long approach shot is required and bunkers guard both left and right sides of the green, with the front bunkers being particularly penal.

Hole 13

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 419 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 329 m

The longest par 4 at Yarra Yarra will require two good hits to get home, especially if a northerly wind is blowing. A drive positioned right centre of the fairway is required to open the green. The long approach shot is to a well-guarded green, which is long and severely sloped from back to front.

Hole 14

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 346 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 323 m

A straightaway hole that narrows down from 220 metres off the tee. Position the drive down the left centre of the fairway. The short iron approach shot is to a green protected in the front right section by a bunker. This green is one of the flattest on the course however, very subtle breaks makes putting harder than it looks

Hole 15

White

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 149 m

Red

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 117 m

A mid iron tee shot to a narrow green. The green has a big tier running through the middle, so the trick on this hole is to hit the tee shot on the same level as the pin. Depending on the wind and the pin position, this hole can play short or very long.  Bunkers guard the front, left and right sides of the green, with no easy up and downs.

Hole 16

White

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 454 m

Red

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 369 m

A birdie hole for long hitters. Position the drive right centre of the fairway. To reach the green with the second shot it calls for a long iron or wood, which must avoid fairway bunkers both left and right and carry bunkers positioned at the front of the green. Aim for the left centre of the green for the shortest carry over the bunkers. The sloping green will feed from left to right.

Hole 17

White

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 366 m

Red

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 327 m

Trees tightly line the left and right sides of this fairway. Aim the drive down the middle of the fairway to set up a mid to short iron approach. The approach shot is played slightly downhill to a large green. Avoid going long over the green

Hole 18

White

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 442 m

Red

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 410 m

A finishing hole with a birdie opportunity. The driving area is tightened by deep bunkers on both sides. The second shot should be positioned short, left centre of the green. The longer hitters can reach this green in two shots. The third shot is a pitch to a green which has a severe slope from back to front and is protected by bunkers located left and right.

Hole 19

White

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 108 m

Red

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 108 m

This hole is used when another hole is out of play. It may be short, however, it requires a precise short iron or wedge to a narrow green, well protected by bunkers in the front of the green. The green has very subtle slopes that make holing putts a challenge.
