Chez Reavie opened with a 65 on Thursday to lead the Fortinet Championship.

Cameron Tringale and Adam Hadwin were a stroke back. Six others were two off the pace. Masters winner Hideki Matsuyama was at 69, and Phil Mickelson shot 70.

Jon Rahm is motivated, even if he’s not feeling well.

The top-ranked Spanish star had two birdies and two bogeys in an even-par 72, leaving him well back of the leaders at Silverado Resort and Spa.  Read more

Reavie's patience paid off as he bounced back from an early bogey at the 14th hole with birdies at the 16th and 17th.

And he really came alive on his inward run, his six birdies including three in a row to end his round.  Read more

Marc Leishman is the pick of the Australians after also shooting three under while Lucas Herbert, Cameron Percy and Aaron Baddeley are two shots further back after their 71s.  Read more

The World No.1 [Rahm], who is playing in his 19th tournament of the year, has twice tested positive for Covid-19 since May.

The first positive test came at the Memorial Tournament whilst he was six clear with 18 holes to play, and the second positive test meant he was forced to withdraw from the Olympics...

The Spaniard says he is okay after a stomach issue, although his comments will be slightly worrying for European Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington ahead of next week’s match at Whistling Straits.  Read more
