Golfers descend on Kalgoorlie for WA PGA Championship

The WA PGA Championship,  Kalgoorlie W.A.  10 - 13th May 2018

The Western Australia PGA Championship, presently known as the TX Civil & Logistics WA PGA Championship, is about to tee off in Kalgoorlie. Golf professionals from around Australia and New Zealand have been arriving and settling into the outback goldfields town. The Tier 2 tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia is hosted by Kalgoorlie Golf Club, where it has been held since 2012.

Defending champion would be Dimitrios Papadatos, who won by one stroke with 12-under par against Rory Bourke. However Papadatos will not be attending this year as he is competing in a European Tour event, the Portugal Open.  [Similarly Harrison Endycott, runner-up at the 2018 Oates Vic Open, is away on the PGA Tour-Latinoamerica.]

The WA PGA Champion becomes exempt on the PGA Tour of Australasia for the rest of this year and for the following one, and results will impact on Official World Golf Ranking points. A prize fund of $125,000 is waiting. Entry is free for all spectators.

The top 15 players from this event will have a chance to compete in some of the Tour's biggest tournaments including the Emirates Australian Open, and the Fiji International which is co-sanctioned by both the European Tour and the Asian Tour.
