Kevin Na's Winning Round at the Sony Open 2021

Kevin Na left his California High School at age 17 to play professional golf.  However for the next 17 years he had only one win on the PGA Tour, in 2011. Those years of not-winning affected his mindset for a time.

“I used to be a really consistent player, a lot of top-10s, a lot of made cuts. Winning was still important then but winning felt a little bit distant to me. I knew I could do it; I’ve done it before. It’s been so long and I went so many years without winning that I kind of forgot that feeling.”  (Quote from PGA Tour site.)

Then, in 2018 he took out the Greenbrier Classic, winning by a resounding 5 strokes. With that needed boost in confidence he won twice in 2019 and here in 2021 he has his fourth win in four years and a total of five. He has risen 15 places in world golf ranking and is now at No. 23 and is 10th in the FedExCup standings.

Currently only four other players are able to say they have wins in each of the last four TOUR seasons. Those four are Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau.

Kevin's determination to shoot for the top at the Sony Open became apparent on Saturday, according to FanSided, in their article Kevin Catches Fire.

"Kevin Na wasn’t in serious contention at the Sony Open as Saturday began", they note.  "By the time the day finished, he had vaulted up the leader board."

GolfWorld detail one Saturday shot in particular here.

"The video, of course [from that link], proves once more that tour pros are NOT just like us, that they can play shots ordinary golfers wouldn’t dream of."
