Australian No.1 Minjee Lee remains in contention at the LPGA Shanghai tournament with a round to play, as she trails the joint leaders by just three strokes.

Lee carded her second straight two-under 70 to stay within range of overnight leader Sei Young Kim and Spaniard Carlota Ciganda, who made her move on Saturday with a five-under 67.

Kim and Ciganda start Sunday at 11-under, just a stroke clear of American trio Angel Lim, Brittany Altomare and Danielle Kang plus Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn.

Lee, who was tied for third at the season-opening Hana Bank Classic in South Korea last week, is in a share of eighth alongside American Paula Creamer and Bronte Law (England).

The West Australian recorded four birdies but also dropped shots on three holes to prevent her closing the gap on Kim and Ciganda.

Compatriot Su Oh matched Lee's 70 to sit at six-under while Sarah Jane Smith and Katherine Kirk are out of the race at one-under and three-over respectively.

Ciganda carded her fifth birdie of the day on the par-4 18th to join Kim, who produced a contrasting 71 containing five birdies and four bogeys.

The tournament is the second of five being played in South Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan in the LPGA's annual Asian swing.
