PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. (AP) — Marina Alex won the Palos Verdes Championship on Sunday for her second LPGA Tour title, breaking a tie with a two-putt birdie on the par-5 16th and parring the final two holes for a one-stroke victory over Jin Young Ko.

Three strokes behind Hannah Green entering the round, Alex closed with a 5-under 66 to finish at 10-under 274 at hilly and windy Palos Verdes Golf Club.  Read more

Marina Alex wasn’t sure if winning on the LPGA would ever happen again for her. The 31-year-old’s lone LPGA title came in 2018 at the Cambia Portland Classic.

Since then, it’s been a battle physically, with a back injury keeping Alex away from competition for seven months in 2020.  Read more

Marina Alex had to endure one final scare from Lydia Ko, but it was short-lived. Then, she was officially a two-time LPGA winner.

Alex closed with a five-under 66 to win the Palos Verdes Championship on Sunday in California, emerging from a bunched leaderboard late to win for the first time since 2018.

“Today is amazing,” Alex said. “I’m kind of not really there yet in processing what went down today. It’s been a really tough couple of years, since Covid."  Read more

American Marina Alex claimed a long-awaited second LPGA tour title on Sunday, firing six birdies in a five-under par 66 to win the Palos Verdes Championship by one stroke over world number one Ko Jin-young.

The 31-year-old American, who won her only other tour title at the 2018 Portland Classic, shook off an early bogey to build a 10-under par total of 274.

She powered past overnight leader Hannah Green and New Zealand's third-ranked Lydia Ko, who started the day one back.  Read more
