Michelle Wie Triumphs at Women's World Championship - Singapore 2018

In June 2014 Michelle Wie won the US Women's Open. However, due in part to injuries, problems with her swing and other challenges, that was to be her last major win... until now.  No wonder, then, that she broke out and fist-pumped the air on reclaiming the experience of victory, this time at the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore.

As the final round began Wie was five strokes behind then-leader Nelly Korda. Six birdies and no bogeys through her first 17 holes gradually brought her closer, to where she was in a tight group who were tied for the lead. Wie's 36 foot birdie putt from off the green on the last hole brought her to 17-under-par 271 and gave her the championship.

Runners up in the tie on second are Wie's fellow Americans Nelly Korda and Danielle Kang, South Korean Jenny Shin and Canadian Brooke Henderson, with 16-under, 272.  Australian Minjee Lee follows in a tie with Jin Young Ko on 15-under 273.

Asked about "that putt" after the game, Wie said, "I think I hit that hole pretty hard, but I think that has to be the best putt of my career so far."

Having earlier thanked her caddie in particular, Wie then sent out a message via instagram to all who had helped her along the way:  "Woke up thinking it was all a dream, but it's all just hitting me now. Want to take a moment to thank everyone that helped me get back to holding a trophy again. Couldn't have done it without my team and their unwavering support! And thank you to my amazing fans for sticking with me through all my tough times and never giving up on me."
