Jonathan Caldwell Wins Scandinavian Mixed

37 year old Jonathan Caldwell from Northern Ireland has won the inaugural Scandinavian Mixed. His 17-under 271 final secured his win, one stroke ahead of Adrian Otaegui from Spain and two ahead of England's Alice Hewson. Two Australians, Scott Hend and Jason Scrivener are in the final top ten.

Jonathan Caldwell produced a stunning birdie on the last to claim his maiden European Tour title at the 2021 Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik & Annika.

The Northern Irishman entered the final day at Vallda Golf and Country Club three shots off the lead but carded a stunning closing 64 to get to 17 under and set the target.

Spaniard Adrian Otaegui had a chance to win it on the last but three putted the 18th for the only bogey of his 67 to sit a shot off the lead. Read more

After 13 years as a professional, Jonathan Caldwell made his European Tour breakthrough at the age of 37 after a final-round 64 earned him a one-shot victory at the Scandinavian Mixed in Gothenburg

Caldwell overcame a rocky finish at Vallda in Gothenburg to make his eighth birdie of the final day at the last, hitting a stunning second from the rough to three feet, which hauled him into a tie for the lead with Otaegui, who then stumbled to his only bogey of the round when he three-putted the 72nd green. It hasn’t been the easiest of roads for Caldwell, who has battled for years on the minor EuroPro and Challenge Tours and even had to take a part-time job at the local golf store to make ends meet for several seasons.

But after earning his Tour card through Q-School in 2019 and then picking up three top-10 finishes last season, he has finally made it into the winner’s circle. Read more
