Wade Ormsby has sunk seven birdies to sit just one shot back heading into the final round of the Scandinavian Invitational.

The Australian started round three in Gothenburg two shots back and didn't do himself any favours with two consecutive bogeys, but he steadied and made no more mistakes to end with a five-under 65 on Saturday.

Ormsby is in equal second at 12 under and just one shot back from South African leader Erik van Rooyen, who birdied five of his last six holes to card a six-under 64 in his third round.

Van Rooyen is bidding to win his first European Tour title after posting two second-place finishes among five top-10s this season, his first on the circuit since graduating from the second-tier Challenge Tour.

He was on 13-under 197 overall after the third round, one clear of Matt Fitzpatrick of England and Ashun Wu of China.

Henrik Stenson, playing in his native Sweden, shot a 69 and is in a five-way tie for fifth place on 10 under.

Australian Jason Scrivener, who was three shots off the lead on Friday, is eight under after just making par in his third round.

Compatriot Brett Rumford is two under, while Deyen Lawson is just one under after both scraped into par.
