Rose Wins Fort Worth Invitational with 20-under

Justin Rose Wins 2018 Fort Worth Invitational by three shots, with 20-under par

Justin Rose shot 6-under-par 64 for his final round at The Colonial, giving him a tournament total of 20-under 260 and the victory by three shots. Brooks Koepka is second on 17-under 263 followed by Emiliano Grillo on 16-under 264. Kevin Na's round score of 9-under 61 equalled the course record, lifting him 17 places to fourth on the leaderboard with 14-under 266.

English professional golfer Rose, presently World No. 5 in World Golf Ranking, was runner-up at last year's Masters Tournament after a playoff against Sergio Garcia. In 2013 he won the US Open. Fort Worth is his ninth PGA Tour title and his second for this season, after winning the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai last October.

Rose began his final round with a four shot lead. He hit six birdies on the front nine, then two more to finish just one shot short of the tournament record of 21-under 259. A bogey on the final hole stopped him from achieving that. However, as this is his ninth PGA title, he has tied the record set by Nick Faldo for the most PGA wins by an English golfer.

“I’m a little speechless to be honest with you,” said Rose, who found it tough going at times in the 100-degree (38 C) Texas heat. “I couldn’t be more proud.

“If you are able to win at a course that has great history, has had great champions...  And if I begin to look at the courses I’ve won at, this definitely strengthens that group even more.”

The annual tournament at the Colonial is the longest-running PGA Tour event still played at its original site, being from 1946.
