The Lotte Championship, LPGA Tour 2021: Round One

LPGA Tour 2021 - The Lotte Championship, Oahu, Hawaii - Round One

Altomare and Saso tied at the top on 8-under 64

As the first day's play starts to wrap up at Kapolei Golf Club, two are tied at the top of the leaderboard with rounds of 8-under-par 64. They are Brittany Altomare from the US and Yuka Saso from the Phillipines.

Yuka Saso, now 19 years old, made history for the Phillipines when she won that nation's first gold medal in both the individual and the women's team event at the 2018 Asian Games.

From The Straits Times:

Saso, a 19-year-old from the Philippines who made history for her country with double Asian Games golf gold in 2018, was first in the clubhouse on eight-under 64, racing home with four of her eight birdies at her last four holes.

American Altomare followed with an even more impressive surge, stringing together seven straight birdies after the turn on the way to nine birdies and a bogey for an eight-under total...

...[Altomare] opened with a birdie at the 10th and was one-under at the turn after a birdie at 14th and a bogey at 15th.

She then birdied seven straight from the first through the seventh before finishing with back-to-back pars.

Katherine Kirk is currently leading the Aussies with a round of 3-under 69. Hannah Green is 2-under, 70;  Minjee Lee and Gabriela Ruffels are both 1-under.
