The Masters at Augusta 2021: Round Two Reviews

The Masters 2021 at Augusta National - Round Two

From Golfweek:

With an armada of birdies and an eagle in Thursday’s first round of the 85th Masters, Justin Rose sailed away from all others and took a staggering 4-shot lead with a stunning 7-under-par 65, a score that was 9.5 strokes better than the field average.

A day later, he had plenty of company.

Rose, who finished runner-up here in 2015 and lost in a playoff in 2017 to Sergio Garcia, rebounded from a poor front nine in Friday’s second round at Augusta National and remained at the top of the leaderboard with an even-par 72 that left him at 7 under through 36 holes.

But under overcast skies and on a slightly softer course and less crusty greens, a fleet of players came charging and before noon talk of a runaway had been silenced.  Full day's play covered here

From CBS-Sports:

Justin Rose remains the leader at the 2021 Masters, but his incredible first round lead has evaporated after he posted an even-par 72 while 17 players shot 69 or better on Friday at Augusta National. Rose maintains his lead at 7 under as we turn our attention to the weekend, but 11 players are within three strokes of the lead.

Among those are the pair of Brian Harman and Will Zalatoris, who just one stroke back at 6 under, while Jordan Spieth and Marc Leishman are lurking and well within striking distance at 5 under. Read more

From PGA TOUR:

A day after only one player shot lower than 69, there were more low scores at Augusta National thanks to softer greens. Bernd Wiesberger and Tony Finau both shot 66 to vault into sixth place, just three back of Rose. There were another three 67s – by Marc Leishman, Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau – and five 68s. Jordan Spieth, Cameron Champ and Will Zalatoris were among the players who shot 4 under Friday.

“They threw some water on the golf course today,” Spieth said. “I mean, there was actually some green grass on No. 9 today and there wasn't yesterday.”  Read more
