2021 Open Championship
The 149th Open, Royal St George's 11-18 July 2021
In 2021 The Open will return to Royal St George’s for the first time since 2011. It will be the 15th Open Championship to be held at Royal St George's. Whether or not there are spectators, The Open will be played in 2021.
Located on the Kent coastline, the Sandwich links will showcase the world's best players as they compete for the Claret Jug in The 149th Open.
It is not yet known whether spectators will be allowed but the R&A "are working with the government and health authorities, and it's certainly a lot more complex than staging a normal Open Championship," R&A CEO Martin Slumber said on Sky Sports.
"But we are going to do everything we possibly can to put on a great championship for the country. I think there's a very good possibility we will be able to have spectators but we will have to wait and see how many."
"We are balancing the health and safety of everyone involved, but I strongly believe The Open needs spectators."
