The US Open 2021, this week at Torrey Pines: Links to LIVE UPDATES!

The 121st US Open Championship, Torrey Pines, 17-20 June 2021

The US Open Returns to Torrey Pines in 2021, the first year it has been held at here since Tiger Woods' momentous win in 2008. A commemorative plaque of that event is now on the course.

Defending champion in 2021 is Bryson DeChambeau. That's DeChambeau who fired this monster drive at the Arnold Palmer. That's DeChambeau who took a 3,000 km flight detour between golf rounds at Wells Fargo. That's DeChambeau who so unnerved Brooks Koepka as he strolled past that Koepka lost his train of thought.

Brooks Koepka has won the US Open twice, in 2017 and '18, and he was runner-up in 2019 at Pebble Beach. He was also the PGA Champion in 2018 and '19 and was tied runner-up at the 2019 Masters. Since then, however, hip and knee injuries have brought pain. He received surgery in March this year. When he won the Phoenix Open in February he spoke of his struggles in overcoming pain and its accompanying depression.

Odds-on favourite is apparently Jon Rahm. That's Jon Rahm the first-time super-proud dad who stayed on for the birth of his son even though it meant he was the last player to arrive at the Masters. And that's Jon Rahm who's six shot lead going into the final round of the Memorial counted for nothing, when he was told on course that he'd tested positive for Covid.

And then there is Hideki Matsuyama. Matsuyama is not only this year's Masters Champion, he was also T2 for the US Open in 2017.

Australians in the field in 2021 are Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Matt Jones, Adam Scott, Wade Ormsby, Steve Allan and Brad Kennedy.
