The LPGA Tour's 2021 Tournament of Champions will launch next week at Lake Buena Vista, Florida.   This year, however, at least 11  eligible champions will not be attending, due mainly to pandemic travel requirements and concerns. The absentees include top Aussies Hannah Green and Minjee Lee.

Defending champion Gaby Lopez is playing in this year's Tournament of Champions.

From the LPGA article, TOC Returns,  A New Beginning:

A star from the University of Arkansas, Lopez is only the second player from Mexico to win on the LPGA Tour behind former World No.1 Lorena Ochoa.

After that 2020 playoff victory, Lopez said, “I don’t need to prove to anyone else but myself. I proved to myself that I can win in any situation. My first win was in the lead. My second win was coming from behind. And being able to put all those moments together and recall them while I'm walking on the fairway here and try to stay patient. That's what I proved to myself the most, my ability to stay in the moment.”

She said,   “Golf makes you a strong, bold, patient and disciplined woman in the inside. There is no better feeling than proving to yourself that you can be better every single day."

“Golf will teach you to be kind and respectful to yourself.  And it will make you work hard to accomplish your dreams.”
