Day One: Ewan Ferguson (course record 61) and Amanda Doherty (67) are respective leaders

Ewen Ferguson carded a course-record nine under par 61 at Galgorm Castle Golf Club as he stormed into the lead after the first round of the ISPS HANDA World Invitational presented by AVIV Clinics.

The Scotsman, who also set a new course record at the Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews a fortnight ago, carded five birdies and two eagles as he moved four strokes clear in Northern Ireland...

In the women’s competition, American Amanda Doherty carded a six under par 67 at Galgorm Castle to take a one stroke lead into the second round. She sits ahead of compatriot Lauren Coughlin and Solheim Cup players Georgia Hall, Leona Maguire and Emily Kristine Pedersen who share second on five under.  Read more

Ferguson fired a new course record at Galgorm Castle thanks to a pair of eagles, while Doherty set the pace in the women's tournament on Thursday at the 2022 ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by Aviv Clinics.

This week's event is tri-sanctioned by the DP World Tour, Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour, with separate male and female tournaments being played on the same two courses - Galgorm Castle & Massereene - at the same time and for two equal prize funds of US$1.5 million each...

Most golfers would be thrilled with one hole-out eagle in a round. Ewen Ferguson got two on his way to a course-record 61 on Thursday.   Read more

American Amanda Doherty equalled her career-best round on the LPGA Tour of 67 (-6) to lead by one stroke at the end of the first day of the ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by Aviv Clinics.

The 24-year-old, who began her round at Galgorm on the 10th tee, started with a birdie on her first hole before adding two more on 13 and 18 to make the turn in three-under.

Doherty rolled in four more birdies on her back nine with her only dropped shot coming at the fourth for a round of six-under-par.  Read more
