Adrian Meronk made history as the first Polish winner on the DP World Tour after producing fireworks on the back nine to win the 2022 Horizon Irish Open by three shots.
Meronk began the day with a slender one-stroke lead at a sold-out Mount Juliet Estate but found himself one behind with five holes to play after in-form Ryan Fox posted an eight-under-par 64 to get to 17 under.
The 29-year-old dug deep, though, holing lengthy birdie putts at the 15th and 16th to regain the outright lead before making an eagle from 25 feet on the long 17th to give himself a three-shot cushion. Read more

Adrian Meronk has become Poland's first winner on the DP World Tour with a superb closing stretch at Mount Juliet for a six-under 66 and a three-shot victory in the Irish Open.
With The Open at St. Andrews looming, Australia's Lucas Herbert also showed some form as he finished in the top-10 on Sunday.
Meronk was one shot behind New Zealander Ryan Fox with four holes remaining when he went birdie-birdie-eagle to give himself room for error on the tough closing hole. Read more

Adrian Meronk held off a final-round charge from New Zealand's Ryan Fox to win the Irish Open at Mount Juliet Estate in County Kilkenny on Sunday.
Meronk -- who already has three top-three finishes this season -- shot a final-round 66 to top the leaderboard at 20-under and become the first Polish winner in European Tour history.
"It means a lot," Meronk said. "As I said before, it's one of my roles to just grow the game in Poland because it's still quite small but hopefully this will help a lot." Read more
The first Irish Open was held in 1927. The tournament is an Open Qualifying event. Mount Juliet Estate golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and set over 180 acres, has been named "Ireland’s Best Parkland Golf Course" by the Golfer’s Guide to Ireland.
