Paula Reto (SA) sets course record, ties lowest round in CP Women’s Open history; & Emma Talley's ace on the 13th, her first on Tour

From LPGA Communications, 25/8/22:

Thursday was a banner day for South African Paula Reto, who rewrote personal and LPGA Tour records during the first round of the CP Women’s Open.

The 32-year-old Reto, in her ninth year on the LPGA Tour, shot a bogey-free 9-under 62 at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, setting the course record by besting the 63 earned by Brooke Henderson in 2017. The 62, the low round of her LPGA Tour career by two strokes, ties the low round overall of the 2022 LPGA Tour season and ties the lowest round in CP Women’s Open history.   Read more

Winless on the LPGA Tour, the 32-year-old South African opened with a 6-under 29 on the back nine and added three birdies on the front nine — the last on the par-5 ninth. She birdied all four par-5 holes.  Read more

On Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club's par-3 13th, Talley, the world No. 197, hit an "easy" 6-iron off the tee — her only swing on the hole. And Talley had "chills" talking about it after her round.

"It was so cool," she said. "Of course, the Canadians are so nice here, and as soon as I made the hole-in-one they just erupted. It was so cool. I haven't had a hole-in-one on the LPGA yet, so that was my first one."  Read more
