Megan Khang (US) leads after firing five straight birdies; Aussie Hannah Green is T6

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Megan Khang had five straight birdies in a back-nine burst and shot a 6-under 66 on Friday to take a one-stroke lead in the CPKC Women’s Open at challenging Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club.
After playing the first 10 holes in 1 under, Khang birdied five straight on Nos. 11-15. She closed the bogey-free morning round with three pars, leaving her at 7-under 137 on the tree-lined — and mosquito-ladden — layout.
“Honestly, this golf course I feel like you can’t really get too comfortable,” Khang said. “These fairways are tight and the greens are fast and firm, so I’m not taking anything for granted.” Read more

Hannah Green is hanging tough in the LPGA Women's Open in Vancouver, putting together another steady round to remain in the tournament mix.
The 2019 Women's PGA Championship winner followed her opening 70 with a 1-under 71 to be four shots behind American leader Megan Khang at the halfway mark.
Green made birdies on the first and third holes that took her closer to the lead, but a lone bogey on the ninth dropped the Australian into a four-way tie for sixth alongside Englishwoman Georgia Hall, South Korean Wichanee Meechai and Linnea Strom (Sweden). Read more

Khang, who finished third in this year's Women's PGA Championship but is without a career win on the LPGA Tour, held a one stroke lead over Sweden's Linn Grant after carding a bogey free seven-under par 66.
The 25-year-old birdied the par-3 third but burst into life with the first of her five straight birdies on the 11th hole.
It was the perfect response to her opening round of 71, which had ended with the disappointment of three straight bogeys. Read more
