Honda LPGA Thailand - Korda's Inspiring Win

Honda LPGA Thailand 2018 - Jessica Korda's Inspirational Win

Today, 27th Feb 2018, is Jessica Korda's 25th birthday and she has every reason to celebrate. In December last year she was in hospital and then in recovery after having double jaw surgery which has left her with 27 screws in place, to correct a medical problem. She had little time to prepare for her year ahead as a professional golfer.

Honda LPGA Thailand was her first call. Here at Chonburi she led from the first round and won by four shots, breaking the Honda LPGA Thailand scoring record. Her final score is a remarkable 25-under-par 263. This included hitting three eagles and 25 birdies during the tournament.

“Coming in after surgery I didn't know what to expect,” said Korda after the win. “I didn't know how I was going to be received. Obviously when I look at myself I still don't feel like I look like myself yet. That will come. I'm just very, very happy. All the hard work I was putting in in the off-season when I could has paid off rather quickly.”

Tied second are Lexi Thompson and Moriya Jutanugarn on 21-under 267, with Minjee Lee fourth on 18-under 270. Shanshan Feng is tied fifth with Ariya Jutanugarn on 17-under 271.
