Australian Jason Day is tied into the final playoff at the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open, against Sweden's Alex Noren. They will return Monday to battle it out for the tournament title.
Jason Day is a former World No. 1 ranking world golfer, arriving there first in September 2015. He has won the World Golf Championships twice. Tiger Woods and Geoff Ogilvy are the only other multiple winners of the WGC Match Play. Day is looking to his 11th PGA Tour title if he wins tomorrow.
Noren has nine wins on the European Tour.
On Sunday as the wind began whipping into the game, four players showed their mettle ahead of the rest: Day, Noren, Palmer and Holmes. Day was ahead until he hit a bogey on 11th and again on 15. As he dropped back, the other three made their own errors on the 14th, and the four were tied. Further along, Holmes, and then Palmer, were out. Day and Noren were still belting it out as evening fell and darkness suspended the game.
Day said later, “Alex is playing some tremendous golf. To be able to go through and go shot for shot there was pretty special.”
“I'm just going to try and get some rest tonight and I'll play all day tomorrow if I need to get the win.”
