Lucy Li is now 19, and is two shots ahead on Day Two of the Dana Open

So much has changed, yet so much remains the same. Lucy Li doesn’t show up in pigtails and face paint anymore. She no longer dresses like a pre-teen whose parents are picking their battles. She has, in fact, done what girls do: mature into a young, confident woman.
But the golf game is still extraordinary. Just two weeks after securing her LPGA Tour card by mathematically locking up a season-ending top-10 spot in the Epson Tour’s Race to the Card, Li came into the Dana Open presented by Marathon and put together two spectacular rounds, finishing Friday with a 7-under, 64 to take the midday lead after the morning wave and ensuring one of the late tee times on Saturday. SYLVANIA, Ohio -- Lucy Li already is assured of an LPGA Tour card for next year. She played Friday as though she's ready to join the big leagues even sooner.
Li had five birdies in a seven-hole stretch on the back nine and kept bogeys off her card the rest of the way for a 7-under 64 that gave her the early lead in the Dana Open.
Another 19-year-old, Chinese rookie Ruoning Yin, had a 69 and was 2 shots behind.
Li is best known for becoming the youngest player in the U.S. Women's Open when she qualified at age 11 in 2014 at Pinehurst No. 2. Read more

A moment nearly eight years in the making is finally here — Lucy Li is leading an LPGA event.
The 19-year-old Californian was a child phenom. She famously played the U.S. Women's Open at 11 years old — a record that still stands today. After winning twice this year on the Epson Tour, Li secured a full LPGA card for next season.
However, before next season, Li is trying to get as many LPGA starts under her belt as possible. She played last week's CP Women's Open and recorded her first LPGA top-10 to earn a spot in this week's Dana Open. Read more
