Maja Stark smashes course record, wins World Invitational five ahead

In the women’s event Sweden’s Maja Stark carded course record ten under par 63 as she stormed to a five-stroke victory, earning her first LPGA Tour title and third win of the year.

The 22-year-old finished on 20 under par, five strokes ahead of Allisen Corpuz of the United States.  Read more

Maja Stark fired an exceptional course record of 63 (-10) on the final day of the ISPS Handa World Invitational to win by five strokes.

The 22-year-old began the day two shots behind overnight leader Amanda Doherty but got off to a sensational start with birdies on the first, third, fifth and sixth.

Stark added rolled in two more back-to-back on eight and nine to make the turn in 31 (-6), but the Swedish star didn’t stop there.

From holes 12 through to 14 she rolled in three birdies consecutively before making another on the 17th and despite finding the water on the last, Stark made the up-and-down for par to win with a total of 20-under-par.  Read more

It was a spectacular comeback.

Stepping to the first tee in the penultimate women’s grouping at the ISPS Handa World Invitational, Maja Stark started the day two strokes back of 54-hole leader Amanda Doherty. By Sunday’s finish, Stark had carded a remarkable 10-under 63, a new career-low, en route to a five-stroke victory at -20, a tournament record.

The 22-year-old went on to accept immediate LPGA Tour Membership, making her 500 Race to the CME Globe points and winnings official as she becomes the newest rookie on Tour...

Stark’s bogey-free round started with six birdies in her first nine holes, and she made the turn with a three-stroke lead over the rest of the field.  Read more

There was a four-way tie for the lead and a bunched-up chasing pack early in the final round of the women's event but it was Stark who took the tournament by the scruff of the neck with six birdies on the front nine.

She turned with a three-shot lead and added four more birdies for a course-record 63, 20-under total and five-shot triumph.  Read more
