Jennifer Kupcho fights the wind for a two stroke lead ahead of Nelly Korda

Making eight consecutive pars wasn’t how first-round leader Jennifer Kupcho wanted to begin day two at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. But, the 25-year-old hung tough, stayed patient and finally made five birdies in her last ten holes to shoot 67 and lead by two shots heading into the weekend at Blythefield Country Club. Kupcho hit 8 of 13 fairways and 13 of 18 greens with just 27 putts, an effort she was pleased with considering the incredibly windy conditions...
Kupcho’s two-day total of 130 is the second-lowest 36-hole score of her career and it’s just her third time holding the 36-hole lead or co-lead. She became a Rolex First-Time winner back in April when she won The Chevron Championship by two strokes to take the last leap into Poppie’s Pond. Read more

BELMONT, Mich. (AP) — Jennifer Kupcho opened a two-stroke lead over defending champion Nelly Korda on Friday in the LPGA Meijer Classic, shooting a 5-under 67 in windy conditions for her second straight bogey-free round.
Canada's Brooke Henderson was four shots off the lead.
A stroke ahead entering the morning round after a career-best 63 on Thursday afternoon, Kupcho had a 14-under 130 total at wind-swept Blythefield Country Club.

With winds gusting up to 22 mph during the morning round on Friday, Blythefield Country Club wasn’t playing easy at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. But, two-time LPGA Tour winner Carlota Ciganda used the conditions to her advantage, carding a 7-under 65 to sit three shots back of the lead in solo third heading into the weekend.
“The key was that I hit a lot of greens both days, yesterday and today. It's pretty tricky with the wind and if you don't hit the greens, it's just harder to make those putts for par,” Ciganda said. Read more
