LPGA, Pure Silk Championship 2021: Wei-Ling Hsu readying for the final round

LPGA Tour 2021 - Pure Silk Championship - Kingsmill, Williamsburg, VA  - Day 3

Wei-Ling Hsu, T1, 10-under

26 year old Wei-Ling Hsu, from Taiwan, began playing golf when she was seven years old and qualified for the LPGA Tour in 2015. In 2018 she was runner-up at the Pure Silk Bahamas, but has yet to take home an LPGA Tour trophy. Her week leading into this tournament was extremely demanding, as Steve Eubanks notes:

The 8,500-mile trip from Chonburi and the Honda LPGA Thailand to Williamsburg and the Pure Silk Championship was always going to be tough. However, Hsu had even more stress in the middle. Last Thursday, she played a 36-hole qualifier in Arizona for the U.S. Women’s Open.

“I actually flew into L.A., picked up my mom and then drove [600 klm] all the way from L.A. to Phoenix,” she said. “I got in on Wednesday, no, no, no, on Tuesday, and then had a practice round on Wednesday.”

Wei-Ling Hsu's strength, perseverance and determination are remarkable. She is also carrying the weight of concern for her home and family, around Covid:  "We've got so many new cases right now [in Taiwan], so, people are really nervous and the whole country almost shut down."  Read more
