From PGA TOUR Daily Wrap-up, by AP:
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Sepp Straka is going back to Georgia in a few weeks. He’s headed to the Masters, after pulling off a huge comeback to win the Honda Classic.
Straka, now 14th in the FedExCup standings, trailed by five shots entering the final round and tapped in for birdie in the rain on the final hole to beat Shane Lowry by one shot to become the first Austrian winner in PGA TOUR history. He shot a 4-under 66 on Sunday to finish at 10 under and earn $1.44 million.
Lowry shot his third consecutive round of 67, his 9 under total for the week coming up one short. First-round leader Kurt Kitayama (68) was alone in third at 8 under, and Daniel Berger — who led by six shots with 19 holes left in the tournament — simply fell apart Sunday, his round of 74 leaving him 7 under for the week and three shots behind Straka. From the Irish Times, by Philip Reid:
The golfing gods giveth and they taketh away, as Shane Lowry discovered only too well over the closing stretch of the Honda Classic where an untimely downpour – just before he teed off on the 18th – effectively denied him a final chance of lifting a first trophy since his famous win of the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush back in 2019.
“It’s as bad a break as I’ve got in a while,” said Lowry, of the timing of the heavy rainfall. He finished one stroke behind maiden tour winner Sepp Straka, the first Austrian to win on the PGA Tour.

SHANE LOWRY finished one shot behind Sepp Straka at the Honda Classic on the PGA Tour and feels that he had the tournament stolen from him with the worst break of his career.
The Offaly native led Straka for most of the back nine and didn't produce a bogey, but the Austrian came out on top with birdies on 14, 16 and 18.
Lowry was tied for the lead at 9-under par when he reached the 18th tee box. Up ahead, Sepp Straka had just blasted a 334-yard drive on the par-5 finishing hole.
With rain suddenly turning into a heavy downpour, Straka put his second shot on the green. While the Austrian was walking up to survey his eagle putt, Lowry pulled his tee shot only 241 yards into the left rough.
Straka narrowly missed his eagle putt, but tapped in for birdie to reach 10 under. Lowry, forced to lay up, hit his third shot to 43 feet and was unable to make the birdie putt, settling for solo second. Read more
