Jon RahmThomas Detry and Jack Senior could not be separated heading into the weekend at the 2021 abrdn Scottish Open.

Senior led the strongest field in the event's history in the second Rolex Series event on the 2021 Race to Dubai after the opening round but was soon overhauled by World Number One Rahm as he posted the early midway target of 11 under par.

Rahm was joined at the summit by Detry after he matched the Spaniard's second round of 65 but Senior ensured he belonged at the top table with a composed four under 67 for a three way tie for the lead.  Read more

World number one Jon Rahm made an "incredible" seven birdies in his first 10 holes to share the Scottish Open lead on 11 under after two rounds at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick.

The US Open champion, who shot a six-under-par 65, is tied with Belgian Thomas Detry and England's Jack Senior.

English duo Lee Westwood and Matthew Fitzpatrick are a shot behind, alongside South African George Coetzee.

Four-time major winner Rory McIlroy missed the cut by one shot after a 71.  Read more

Rory McIlroy missed the cut at the Scottish Open on Friday (July 9) to round off a difficult day for the Northern Irishman after a spectator ran onto the course to take a club from his bag before he teed off.

McIlroy was waiting to get his round under way at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick alongside US Open champion Jon Rahm and American Justin Thomas.

Footage on social media showed a man walk onto the tee, take a headcover off McIlroy's driver and then grab an iron from the bag as the former world number one looked on in bemusement.  Read more
