Nelly Korda wins gold, Mone Inami wins silver, Lydia Ko wins bronze at the Tokyo Olympics

Turns out that first major championship was just a start for Nelly Korda. Now she's an Olympic champion and left little doubt Saturday about who's the best in women's golf.

Korda held her nerve during a chaotic chase for medals and a one-hour storm delay at the end, calmly taking two putts from just inside 30 feet for a one-shot victory. Read more

Japan's Mone Inami won the silver medal in a playoff with New Zealand's bronze medallist Lydia Ko. World number 200 Aditi Ashok of India, who had been second after the third round, finished just outside the medals in fourth...

Overnight leader by three strokes, the 23-year-old [Nelly Korda] gave up a share of the lead to Japan's fast-finishing Inami on the 17th but the home favourite bogeyed 18, giving the American a one-stroke buffer as she shot for the final green.  Read more

For the second consecutive week a playoff was needed to round out the medal podium at the Olympic golf competition, but the outcome for the women’s event was far less dramatic...

On the first extra hole (the par-5 18th), Ko, who won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Games and becomes the first golfer to win multiple medals, drove into a bunker down the right side of the fairway and was forced to lay up. Her chip left her 8 feet for par and her putt slipped past the hole.  Read more

Hannah Green’s medal challenge never quite materialised till late during the final round in Tokyo, when a weather delay halted her momentum. Green reached 14-under after a four hole stretch that included three birdies and an eagle at the par-5 14th when electric activity in the area around Kasumigaseki halted play on Saturday afternoon.  Read more
