Mina Harigae's leading 64 round included nine birdies

On a sunny and blisteringly hot day at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, Mina Harigae rose to the top of the leaderboard at the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open presented by ProMedica. The 13-year LPGA Tour veteran, winless in more than 250 career starts, carded the lowest round of her major career on Thursday, a 7-under 64 that featured nine birdies and puts her at the head of the field...

Harigae is already a USGA champion, taking the 2007 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links title just one week before she played the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open at Pine Needles.   Read more

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — To birdie half of the holes on a U.S. Open course is no mean feat, and Mina Harigae, who posted a seven-under 64 at Pine Needles to finish as the first round leader, might owe her spectacular Thursday to a slight putting adjustment made just 24 hours before the start of the tournament.  Read more

Australian ace Minjee Lee has made a flying start to the U.S. Women's Open in North Carolina to be right in the mix for the biggest pay day in her sport's history.

Lee carded a four-under-par 67 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club to be tied for third after the opening round.

The in-form World No.4 rolled in seven birdies and briefly held the lead outright at five-under before finishing the day three shots behind American Mina Harigae.  Read more
