Jin Young Ko Wins VOA Classic 2021, her 8th LPGA win

Jin Young Ko wanted a new trophy for her new house in Texas, and she even picked up something for the closet.

She received a pair of cowboy boots for winning the Volunteers of America Classic on Sunday.

The South Korean star had to work hard for her one-shot victory. Her putting was not up to her standards. Her game didn't feel quite as sharp as it was during Ko's nearly two-year reign as No. 1 in the women's world ranking.

But it was enough for a 2-under 69, closing with seven straight pars for a one-shot victory over Matilda Castren of Finland... read more

Jin Young Ko took the lead at the Volunteers of America Classic after a marathon 32 holes on Saturday.

Weather delayed the action earlier in the week at the Old American Golf Club in The Colony, Texas, and Ko hustled to beat the setting sun to take a one-shot lead into Sunday’s final round.

She says she woke up 4:50 a.m. and didn’t walk off the course till 9 p.m. Saturday night.  Read more
