WGC-Workday Championship at The Concession - Round 3

Collin Morikawa powers ahead at The Concession, leads by Two on 15-under

From the European TOUR News:

Collin Morikawa will take a two shot lead into the final round of the WGC - Workday Championship at The Concession 2021 after a dramatic third day where he threatened to run away with it before being reeled in by a host of fellow Major champions.

The reigning US PGA Championship winner entered round three a shot off the lead but after making seven birdies in eight holes from the fifth, he led by five and looked set to cruise to a maiden World Golf Championships title.

A pair of bogeys dropped him back to 15 under after a 67, however, just two clear of fellow Americans Billy Horschel and Brooks Koepka. More at the link

So, What happened to Cameron Smith?

One hole derailed him, according to ProGolf Now:

Things were looking good for Cameron Smith on Saturday at the WGC-Workday Championship. Smith trailed Brooks Koepka by one shot after 36 holes and he was in fine shape as Saturday’s round began.

Things started looking up for Smith right away. Koepka bogeyed the first hole while Smith birdied and the Australian immediately grabbed the lead. Smith would par the second hole, then birdie the par-5 third and he suddenly was the man at the top of the entire field, which includes most of the best players in the world.

Smith got to enjoy his time at the top of the leader board for exactly one hole. He was able to record a par on the par-3 fourth hole while still holding the lead.

Then, he came to the par-4 fifth hole and it all fell apart. Smith pulled his tee shot left and into the water.  What happened next, linked here
