If someone said the words “Melbourne” and “January”, what would be your first thought?

Tennis is probably the first thing that springs to mind, but in 2019 there is a new reason to turn your attention (and bring your clubs) to Melbourne.

How about three days of superb golf at Commonwealth, Kingston Heath and Sandhurst North Course?  You’re probably now packing your clubs?

From 20th to 23rd January, the PGA of Australia in conjunction with 3 Links Golf (they’re the ones behind the scenes for the events and tournaments at the Qantas Golf Club) presents the Melbourne Challenge.  Now in its third year (but now with a name change), ‘The Melbourne’ is a team pro-am where three amateurs and one professional combine over a 54-hole format to outplay and outlast the field and claim the title of Melbourne Challenge Champions.  Played under stableford format, the best two scores from the team on each hole will be counted towards a team aggregate score.  With nearly $40,000 worth of prizes covering both professionals and amateurs (and with amateur individual and team prizes up for grabs) ‘The Melbourne’ really does have something for everyone.

But it really is all about the golf.  Commonwealth and Kingston Heath are two of the eight must-play courses on every golfer’s bucket list, located in the heart of the world-famous Melbourne Sandbelt region.  Sandhurst is the home of the PGA Australia, and whilst it sits a little further afield (but on the doorstep of the famous Sandbelt), the 36-hole Thomson-Perrett designed complex provides a golfing experience for every golfer.  Players will challenge themselves on the North Course – bearing the characteristics of links-style Scotland (without the ocean views).

So if you enjoy your golf, want to experience all that Australia’s premium golf destination has to offer, want the experience of three days playing with a golf professional and enjoy good company and new friendships, then the Melbourne Challenge really does need to be on your New Year’s To Do List.

What better way to start 2019!?

Entry is just $1,699 per person (Book by December 17 to take advantage of the early bird rate of just $1,499.)

Get more information (and assistance with accommodation if you need it) and register yourself (and your team if you have one) by ringing 3 Links Golf on 1300 216 809 or visit www.3linksgolf.com.au.

(Oh and don’t forget to check out that other sporting event, The Australian Open tennis while you’re here).
