Nelly Korda's six closing birdies and record-tying 63

Brilliance was in abundance Friday at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. On the second nine of the second round, Nelly Korda was unreal. For the second day, Lizette Salas was nearly perfect. And, given a second chance, Celine Boutier painted a masterpiece.
Korda closed a tournament record-tying 63 with six consecutive birdies and seven over the last eight holes in a 29 to be at 11-under-par 133 after 36 holes at Atlanta Athletic Club. Read more

Nelly Korda realized there were low scores available Friday at Atlanta Athletic Club. For the longest time, she couldn’t find them in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
And then the birdies came in bushels, one after another, six straight to close her second round that put her in the record book with a 9-under 63 and gave her a one-shot lead over Lizette Salas going into the weekend. Read more

Credit the crowd, says Nelly Korda, for giving her the adrenaline needed to post a record-tying 9-under 63 on Friday at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. On Tuesday, Korda said she felt like she got hit by a bus during her pro-am round.
The 22-year-old gives props to anyone who goes back-to-back, noting how much energy it takes to win on the LPGA. Read more

Celine Boutier of France drove the sixth green to eight feet for an eagle on her way to a 64 that left her four shots back at seven-under 137 with Cydney Clanton (67) and Alena Sharp (68).
Young Gabriela Ruffels leads the Australian contingent at three under.
The 21-year-old followed her opening 76 with a 65 - the third best round of the day - to be eight behind the lead in a tie for 19th. Read more
