Something in the East Neuk of Fife air is bringing out the best in Scottish golfers. Hot on the heels of Grant Forrest landing his maiden European Tour win in the Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews, the Saltire is flying proudly again just 15 miles away on the Firth of Forth side of the eastern most area of Fife.
Step forward Michele Thomson, who, watched by both her dad Graham as he returned to a golf course for the first time since suffering a heart attack while caddying for the Aberdonian and manager Paul Lawrie, enjoyed arguably the best day of her career. Read more

Michele Thomson took a two-shot lead after the first round of the LPGA's Scottish Open on Thursday, just a month after the nightmare of witnessing her father suffer a heart attack during a tournament.
Thomson carded a seven-under 65 with a trio of players two shots back after the first 18 holes -- Anne Van Dam, Jasmin Suwannapura and US Open champion Yuka Saso. Read more

Minjee Lee and Hannah Green both endured disappointing starts to the Scottish Open as the Australian challenge at the Dumbarnie links failed to fire.
The country's leading pair, both of whom are in the world's top-15, faltered after they bogeyed the opening par-four, which seemed to set the tone for error-riddled opening rounds on Thursday. Read more
