A 347 metre or 380 yard drive has won Phillis Meti the World Long Drive Championship in Arizona. She was 30 yards longer than her nearest challenger. Her drive was so strong that if she had been competing in the men's event she would been placed second.
Meti's 380 yard drive was the final one. Her two earlier lengths were 346 and 350 yards. The ball flew for 320 yards, then rolled on 60 yards further. Her swing speed was 120 mph, or 193 kph. Her ball speed was 176 mph or 283 kph.
In 2006 when she was 19 years old Meti won the Women's World Long Drive Championships with a 326 yard drive. In 2016 she won for a second time. In 2017 while competing at the World Championships she broke the world record for the longest drive by a woman golfer with a 406 yard drive.
