Bannockburn Golf Club

The club is active in promoting golf in the region with a strong junior development program and players regularly represent the club at Opens, Golf Victoria Events and won the 2015 Country Victorian Teams Champions having secured that title in Bendigo earlier that year. The club plays in the Geelong and District Golf Association with two senior men’s pennant teams and one ladies senior pennant team. In 2016 after numerous near misses the club under the captaincy of Tavae Sauni secured its first Senior Men’s Pennant title much to the delight of president Max McLaren and Treasury Brian Harmon who have witnessed many previous attempts.

The courses consists of 18 holes with Santa Anna fairways from tee to green, with the sand greens consisting of a crushed quartz which is watered daily to keep compacted and provide an even putting surface. The fully watered fairways are drought resistant with the club having unlimited access to the townships recycled water.

As with many country golf clubs the Bannockburn Golf Course relies almost entirely on voluntary labour, our members, both Men and Women, donate their time willingly to ensure the course, clubrooms and facilities are presented in the highest order. The afternoon tea, dinners and in particular sweets produced by our lady members are the envy of all in the district.

The course is home to an abundance of wildlife, Kangaroos most prevalent in the mornings and evenings enjoying the green grass, Koalas regularly visit as they roam the district and always bring a simile to the face and cause an air of excitement. With thousands of trees and potential nesting sites the birdlife is too numerous to list however the obligatory Cockatoos, Galahs and Rosellas are common

Bannockburn Golf Club host a number of external events other than our normal home club events, these include the Good Friday Golf day with proceeds donated to The Royal Children’s Hospital and the ANZAC Day golf day with proceeds donated to The RSL. Other than golf our course annually host the Battle of Bannockburn re-enactment which attracts over 10 000 visitors across the designated weekend.
