Barnbougle Lost Farm

Barnbougle's Lost Farm opened in December 2010. Designed by US golf architects Coore and Crenshaw, the 20 hole links-style course is found within the vast and ancient dune-scape near Barnbougle Dunes. The Lost Farm is presently ranked as one of the world's top 25 golf courses [US Golf Digest].

While the Dunes course hugs the coast tightly, the Lost Farm follows the Forester River to begin inland exploration. It allows for "a style of course only possible on some of the most remote land in the world" [Jack Carswell, Barnbougle caddie and greenkeeper for nine years].

The golfer's Lost Farm journey starts next to the coast. That shoreline stretch culminates at the par-3 fourth where, from high up on the dunes, you are gifted a panoramic vista across the estuary and out over Anderson Bay.

The course then veers inland to where massive dunes confront you. The par-4 fifth follows the river inward. You are met by the hulking presence of a mammoth dune challenging you from the fairway, guarding entrance to the hinterland.

Further along, farmland grasses grow greener and become more prolific. Here the astute golfer can discover more of the hidden magic that is unique to the Lost Farm. Finally, the closing holes lead you back towards the ocean.

Barnbougle Dunes and the Lost Farm are located at Bridport on the N.E. coast of Tasmania. Allow about an hour for the drive north from Launceston (80 klms), or 90 minutes from Launceston airport. The Barnbougle Bus offers a transfer service from Launceston.
