Thaxted Park Golf Club

Thaxted Park Golf Course is a classic example of a creative course layout on the acquired farm land that our Foundation Members created in 1964. Minor hole alterations have occurred over the past 50 years to further maximise the layout and enjoyment of our truly unique golf course. Irrigated from 4 internal dams our Santa Ana fairways and Bent greens provide a consistent playing surface year round. The Club has endured water shortages in the past but these are now confided to our history pages as we have a commercial agreement for the provision of water with the Onkaparinga Council’s Waterproofing the South Initiative. This extra water has helped us enhance the condition of the course and feedback from Members and Guests alike shows that we are now experiencing a year by year improvement. Our outward nine holes are situated in the southern part of the Course and provide a great challenge from the start with undulating fairways where precision from the tee can set the foundation for a good score, whilst naturally bring you back to our Clubhouse. Currently under an exciting 2 year redevelopment programme the club has added a few quality fully built temporary holes to ensure player satisfaction throughout this process. The inward nine situated through the Northern part of the property has a fantastic balance of short and long par 4’s which can give up many a birdie but complacency and poor shots selection around water hazards and dog-legged holes could see your scorecard fade into the “what could have been” bracket. Thaxted Park will never fall into the parkland type course layout where many holes can feel like you’ve played them before or offering up blind shot after blind shot. With four par 3’s and four par 5’s this par 72 layout offers much memorable variety amongst its tree lined fairways, water ways and precision placed bunkers. An ability to shape your shots and read subtle breaks on the always near perfect putting surfaces will serve you well around this truly unique Golf Course.
