The Links Shell Cove
Situated on a 63-hectare section of land which includes 20 hectares of wetlands, the course lies in a small valley and although the ocean is not visible from the course it is a short par 4 from the eastern edge. The wind carries across from the east and it can be a principal character of playing the course.
Extended native roughs mark the boundaries and there are some blind spots that present themselves and will change the order of play 25 bunkers have been removed and the remaining 67,54 of them have been altered to be less severe. The long fescue - type grass in the deep rough has been identified as a hazard, speeding up play also removing the lost ball searches which prolonged the game.
One of the features of Shell cove is the compact greens but still, have plenty of action and movement.
It began as a 9 hole course and in the 1980s was developed to an 18 hole course, if you had played this course four years ago it would have been a challenge, but now with the changes, it is an enjoyable round and has been previously listed as one of the top 50 you can play for less than $50.
